If you’ve ever had a piece of jewelry that turns your skin greenish in color I’m sure you’ve wondered what the cause is. Basically ; there is a reaction caused by basic metals to everyone who wears inexpensive jewelry. This occurs to some faster than others; though, because our bodies are all unique.
Truth be told expensive jewelry can turn you green too; reason being even the expensive stuff isnt pure- no matter how much it costs. Platinum hardly ever reacts with skin so not to fear if the stuff you wear is 100% platinum. To try to stop gold jewelry from making you look green be sure its not made from cheap metal and then plated – it has only a very fine coating of gold over top of a base metal and that coating wears off very quickly. For jewelry made from solid gold choosing a higher karat only can help reduce the marks that are left on your skin.
Copper jewelry will react with skin and you’ll have to just accept that if you wear copper.
Avoid sweating in your jewelry it can increase the green skin effect you can also get a special coating put on – to guard your skin from the reaction. If you do this you should be able to wear your jewelry quite often. Don’t forget~ your skin turning green is a harmless reaction. It’s a chemical skin reaction and not an allergic reaction.
Metal allergic reactions will make you red plus it could also make your skin feel itchy and inflamed. It’s not anything like green skin. If you do show signs of allery stop wearing the jewelry. If all you have is green skin you are safe to keep wearing the jewelry you may just have to clean your skin more so its not ugly.
Truth be told coating it is usually the best option.
