To become a model you need to be more than pretty. It requires discipline and talent with a perfect body in order to be a successful model. It is very difficult for an agency to find someone with model potential. Knowing how to make this portfolio is not a simple task and takes a rather large amount of effort. Perfection is what you are striving for. The pose, lighting, what your body says,also the emotion you create are all part of what you need to master to be a model and your portfolio of past work must show you have potential in each and everyone of these areas. Remember that a model is not just about looking attractive, but becoming an icon for the product you will be representing. You always want to keep them coming back for more. If it takes hours upon hours of studying yourself in a mirror, then that is exactly what you need to do. In the modeling industry, you are up against numerous people that have the perfect body. You have to be able to show that you are worth it, over everyone else. Know how to market your body and target the market that works best for you. Targeting the wrong market can be an embarrassing blunder for you and everyone involved.
It is important to have a very skilled photographer. Remember that companies want to make sure that their models are worth the investment and put something into it too. You need to show them that you are willing to give it your all. That means do not choose any kind of camera, with your mom taking the shots. It is important to invest in a professional photographer and one that specializes in photography in the modeling industry.
You want to pick a photographer that will portray your ideal. You can always improve but, being second best is not an option. If you have the talent, the portfolio, and the ability to make that commitment, you just might have what it takes to become a model.
